When buying bar stools, don’t think of them only as part of your bar. Bar stools can be used to add character to any family room or den, or even be a source of additional seating in a living room. Bar stools with backrests do seem bulkier and take up a little more space that those without them, but they have the advantage of offering more comfortable seating when people are not resting their elbows on a bar but would like to lean back a bit and talk to others. Similarly, a well cushioned stool is something you don’t have to apologize for offering as seating when you have a crowd of guest that overflow your chairs and sofas.
