Different Types of Buffet Furniture

by guestpost on June 14, 2010

Most people think of a buffet as a type of dining, but it’s also a type of furniture. Here are the two basic kinds of buffet furniture.
Hutch – This is the larger of the two and it has cabinets on the bottom of it.  It holds items such as knickknacks or China.
• Tables – The second type of furniture is tables.  It’s the smallest type of furniture and doesn’t have much space or storage in it.
Even though it’s not completely different, the hutches and the tables are sometimes called sideboards, so don’t get confused if you hear that term.

When having a dinner party with illustrious guests or family, the dining furniture sets the tone as it introduces your family’s culture and style. It is usually the focal point of a home.
You can find antiques at reasonable prices, or perhaps Art Deco, which is also available if you roam around antique shops. Modern dining furniture is more functional, designed for more leg room and more storage.
Where you serve your gourmet meal truly says to your guests who you are, where you come from and what you believe in. Make the time to pick it out, go to different stores, and do not hesitate to walk in a store you never dreamed you would.

Choose Your Dining Room Furniture Carefully

by guestpost on January 25, 2010

Dining room furniture must be to your taste, as the dining room is usually the room where we most often entertain. Once the cocktails are taken in the living room, it happens often that guests stay in the dining room for the rest of the evening, more so if you serve many courses. Therefore, your dining room furniture should be chosen carefully, in a style you know you love, is comfortable and reflects your taste. It is a shame when your guests are tired of sitting in uncomfortable or hard chairs for a long period of time. Look out for leg room also.

Do you have a large family and a small dining room? Or perhaps you entertain a lot. There not much you can do to solve the space problem, but you can make it look less severe. Glass topped dining tables appear lighter and give the appearance of taking up less space than wood dining tables. The fact that the top is transparent makes the size of the table appear smaller and the room less crowded. They also go well with wall mirrors that will contribute to making the room appear to be larger than it is. Glass dining tables are also virtually maintenance free and are immune to stains and all but the worst of scratches.
